How We Approach Chronic Pain

For this first week of Pain Awareness Month we are going to highlight the different ways we approach this widespread issue. First up, the different treatments that Dr. Keeler provides to help combat chronic pain.

Chiropractic

We use a different approach to chiropractic care. In the most traditional sense, chiropractic treatment is a type of manual therapy that aims to improve pain, limited range of motion, and other symptoms. Dr. Keeler takes chiropractic care to a higher level by using a whole-body approach that considers your physical health, overall well-being, and quality of life. Chiropractic care assists in management of asymmetries of posture/motion; improving joint motion and position input into the central nervous system while existing, living, and functioning in a gravity environment. Combining techniques is proven to provide people with the long-term results that they want and deserve from their chiropractic treatments. Dr. Keeler uses techniques that are rarely used by other chiropractors yet are effective and safe.

Low Level Laser Therapy

The FDA approved low-level laser therapy in July 2018. Cold laser therapy is a safe and effective way to stimulate the mitochondria of your cells to work as a powerful energy source. It relies on low-level, pure light energy that does not heat the tissues. Instead, the intense light causes a chemical reaction in the cells. Dr. Keeler controls where the laser energy is absorbed, and surrounding cells are not affected. Also known as photo bio modulation, cold laser therapy releases chemicals in the cells that help your body heal naturally.

Applied Kinesiology

Kinesiology is an evidence-based science that focuses on the movement of your body, and applied kinesiology means that Dr. Keeler uses muscle tests that check the functional integrity of your muscles to uncover the root causes of your symptoms. Applied kinesiology is based upon the understanding the direct connection between your muscles and other parts of your body. Dr. Keeler uses muscle response testing (MRT) to tap into the electrical circuitry of your body to discover misalignments and malfunctions. Through the technique, he can identify which muscles are being turned on and off properly and which ones are “blocked.”

There is so much we can do to help and many times, folks aren’t very aware the chiropractic care might be an option for them. If you or someone you love is struggling with ongoing pain, discomfort or restricted movement, please refer them to our office. We’d be happy to discuss their particular situation.

Be sure to stay tuned to next week’s blog post, where we’ll continue to talk about additional ways to treat chronic pain. You can also follow us on Facebook, and tell us about your experiences with chiropractic care. We hope to see you there!
